Who will win the Premier League 2026/27
Our Premier League winner prediction is for Arsenal to retain the title in 2026/27. The defending champions look stronger than ever under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, and after winning their first major title, they’ll be hungry for more. To bolster his title-winning squad, Arteta has brought in winger Christos Tzolis and midfielder Bruno Guimarães, who was a key player for Newcastle. Arsenal are the betting favourites to win the trophy ahead of the season opener.
However, we predict multiple top teams will fight for the title this season. The top 6 look very competitive, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and even Tottenham challenging.
Premier League 2026/27 title race: the contenders
Arsenal are the defending champions and look like the strongest team in the league on paper. They’re our title pick for 2026/27. Last season, Arsenal’s defence won them the league, but they also have plenty of attacking threats. If they can keep players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard fit all season, they’ll be difficult to stop.
Manchester City won 4 of the last 6 Premier League titles, but have to contend with major changes this year after missing out in the last 2 seasons. With Pep Guardiola leaving, Enzo Maresca takes over as head coach, while they’ll also have to do without title-winning players like Rodri, Bernardo Silva and John Stones. Guardiola will be a big miss for them, as he’s considered by most to be the best coach in the world. With Pep in charge, City won 6 EPL titles, 3 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and 1 Champions League title. City's midfield has faced its biggest change in losing Rodri, and they’ll need time to adapt to Maresca’s system. This might be considered a rebuilding year for them. However, City still have a talented squad and signed Elliot Anderson in the summer.
After their title-winning season in 2024/25, Liverpool struggled last season, despite some excellent attacking signings. They’ve also acquired a new head coach in Iraola, who impressed at Bournemouth. At Bournemouth, Iraola coached his players to play with high intensity and counter-pressing, much like former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. He demands a lot from his players, but he may face issues with a squad that needs revitalising. Liverpool has lots of great attacking players such as Alexander Isak, but Hugo Ekitike isn’t expected back until the start of 2027.
Manchester United had a disappointing start to 2025/26, but after replacing Ruben Amorim with Michael Carrick, they looked like a completely different team. Now, they’ll have a chance for a full season with Carrick in charge, plus new additions like Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
Chelsea have also replaced their head coach, bringing in Xabi Alonso, who led Leverkusen to an undefeated Bundesliga title. Under his management, Chelsea could be real contenders in the 2026/27 Premier League title race, especially since they won’t be playing in a European competition this season.
Premier League 2026/27 top four and European qualification predictions
The top four teams in the Premier League at the end of the season will qualify for next season’s Champions League, the elite European club competition. Meanwhile, the 5th-place team qualifies directly to next season’s Europa League. Conference League qualification is also available to the winner of the EFL Cup, but goes to the highest-finishing team that hasn’t already qualified for Europe.
Our top four prediction is:
Arsenal - Champions League
Chelsea - Champions League
Manchester City - Champions League
Manchester United - Champions League
Meanwhile, we think these teams will also make it into European qualification:
Aston Villa - Europa League
Nottingham Forest - Conference League
Premier League 2026/27 relegation predictions
Our Premier League relegation prediction is for Hull City, Coventry City and Crystal Palace to be relegated at the end of the 2026/27 season.
Newly promoted teams are most likely to be sent down, with statistics showing that 47% of newly promoted teams get relegated after one season in the Premier League. However, the 2025/26 season showed us that it doesn’t have to be that way, with Burnley as the only newly promoted team to be sent back down to the Championship.
It could be a close battle between the bottom teams, with last season’s relegation battle coming down to the final day. We expect teams like Leeds United, Fulham FC and Ipswich Town to also struggle.
Premier League 2026/27 dark horses and surprise picks
Chelsea are perhaps the best of the dark horse picks to win the 2026/27 Premier League. They started the season as 5th favourites behind Liverpool and Manchester United. While they finished 10th last season, their season was disrupted by Enzo Maresca leaving halfway through the international club soccer tournament. This year, they’re without Europe, which will mean less fixture congestion and a more manageable schedule. Chelsea have also brought in Xabi Alonso as head coach, who will look to instil a winning culture and previously coached Leverkusen to an undefeated Bundesliga title.
Tottenham may also surprise a few people this season. They were nearly dragged into a relegation battle in 2025/26 after replacing a struggling Thomas Frank with Igor Tudor didn’t go to plan. Towards the end of the season, they turned things around under the leadership of Roberto De Zerbi, and he stayed with the team to rebuild. Tottenham have added some top players like Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Premier League 2026/27 Golden Boot prediction
Erling Haaland is the obvious pick for the 2026/27 Golden Boot winner. He’s won the award in 3 of his 4 seasons in the league, only being beaten by Mohamed Salah, who has now left the Premier League.
If Alexander Isak can stay fit this season, he has a good chance of challenging Haaland for the Golden Boot. The Liverpool striker bagged 23 goals for Newcastle in the 2024/25 season, coming 2nd in the top goalscorer race. However, last season, injuries meant he only played 14 league games.
Joao Pedro is potentially one to watch when making your Premier League top scorer prediction. He offers excellent potential as the top goalscorer pick if Chelsea perform well. The Brazilian forward scored 15 league goals in 2025/26. If the team around him improves in form, he could net enough to put him in contention for the Golden Boot.
